Drink up, cool down
Why everyone should drink more water
A nice, tall glass of water does more than quench your thirst. Water carries heat away from inside the body, so you maintain a comfortable internal temperature.
Water also carries nutrients
Feeling sluggish is often a sign you need fluids.
Water is a great choice because it’s zero calories
But other beverages also count toward meeting your body’s fluid needs. Unsweetened tea or coffee, no-sugar-added juice and low-fat milk are good options.
Fruits and vegetables also quench
Have a “90% water salad”: iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, radishes and strawberries.
Make sure kids get enough to drink
Encourage them to choose water over sodas and sports drinks. Jazz it up with slices of fruit.
