A support system with strength and scale

From your annual well visit with your primary care physician to an unexpected emergency after hours, the extensive network of doctors and hospitals in our provider network is there for you when you need it most. More than just an ID card, our health care plans provide you a number of ways to get the treatment you need.

Find a doctor

Use our find a doctor tool for a listing of in-network doctors in your area.
Search now

Search for preventive care. Get checkups, screenings, and immunizations at no cost to you and your family. Not sure what type of preventive care you need? We have an online tool that makes it easy. Visit ibx.com/preventive to see which services are recommended for your age and gender. Search the provider finder to find a preventive care doctor.

Access convenient care. Sudden illness or injury may have you heading to the emergency room, but emergency care may not be necessary. Urgent care centers, retail clinics, and telemedicine provide quality care for illnesses or injuries that require medical attention, but aren’t life-threatening. Access telemedicine through Teladoc Health or search the provider finder to find the closest urgent care center or retail clinic near you.

IBX Registered Nurse Health Coaches are also available 24/7 to answer your health-related questions and address your concerns. To reach a Registered Nurse Health Coach, call 1-800-ASK-BLUE (1-800-275-2583; TTY/TDD: 711) and follow the prompt for Health Coach.

Continuation of care

Looking for a smooth transition? If you are new to Independence Blue Cross and are receiving ongoing treatment from a provider who is out of network (non-participating), we can help. We have a process that allows you to transition your care to a participating provider in network. During the transition, you can continue to seek treatment from your non-participating provider for a period of 90 days and still receive coverage at the in-network level. Once enrolled, simply fill out a request to take advantage of this helpful benefit.

For maternity, continuation of care is available if you are in your second or third trimester on the plan effective date.

Prescription drugs

We make it easy to manage your prescription drug needs. Search the formulary now to check if your current prescriptions are covered and at what tier level. Learn more about preventive care drugs available at no cost to you when you use a participating provider.

Filling your prescription is simple. When you login to our secure portal at ibx.com, you can find a participating pharmacy in your neighborhood, or you can utilize our safe and convenient Mail Order Program, which delivers your medication directly to your door, often at a lower cost.

Some medications may require prior authorization to be filled. Search the current list of drugs to find out if yours is one of them.

Behavioral health

Your overall health includes both your physical and emotional well-being. That’s why we offer services and resources for behavioral health. With your Independence health plan, you have access to:

  • Telebehavioral health. 24/7 access to therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists who can help when you need it.
  • In-network behavioral health providers. Whether you prefer to see a behavioral health provider in-person or virtually, Independence has a broad network of behavioral health specialists. Search the provider finder to find in-network behavioral health specialists.

Transgender services

Independence supports equitable whole-person health care. That means offering benefits that cover transgender services and challenging the gender-based disparities we see in care. As an Independence member, you and your covered dependents have access to transgender and other supporting services, including:

  • Hormone therapies
  • Gender affirming surgeries
  • Behavioral health support
  • Ongoing health support through preventive care

To see what specific services are covered, review our medical policy or refer to this flyer. You can also call the customer service number on the back of your member ID card to speak with a representative about covered services.
