Open Enrollment What you need to know
Under the Affordable Care Act, Open Enrollment is the time when individuals and families can enroll for health care coverage for the upcoming year. If you don’t have health care coverage, Open Enrollment is the time to apply. If you do have health insurance – but want to shop and compare your options, Open Enrollment is your chance to make a change.
When is Open Enrollment?
Open Enrollment is happening now! It started November 1, 2024 and ends January 15, 2025.
If you miss the January 15 deadline for 2025 Open Enrollment, you will only be able to enroll in a health insurance plan for 2025 if you experience a qualifying life event.
See if you qualify for a tax credit (subsidy)
The federal government provides financial help in the form of tax credits, or subsidies, for eligible individuals and families who purchase their own health insurance. Eligibility depends on family size and income.
Use our tax credit calculator to see if you or your family may be eligible for financial assistance.
Save with a tiered network plan
With a Keystone HMO Proactive health plan, in-network providers are grouped into three tiers. Providers that offer high-quality care at a lower cost are in Tier 1 – Preferred, which includes more than half of in-network doctors and hospitals. You always have access to the full provider network.
Make sure your preferred providers are in the network
If you prefer to visit certain doctors, hospitals, or health care facilities, then make sure they’re in the Independence Blue Cross provider network. Independence Blue Cross is proud to offer the largest provider network in the region, with more than 60,000 doctors and more than 180 hospitals.
Use the Find a Doctor tool to see if your current doctors and facilities are in the network.
